AN ENDANGERED species has been given a new home in a Chesterfield park after being threatened with extinction.
White-clawed crayfish are under threat throughout Europe with their decline put down to the introduction of the more aggressive signal crayfish from North America.
Councillors in Chesterfield set up a sanctuary at one of the borough's country parks where they have introduced 70 white-clawed crayfish.
The location is being kept a closely guarded secret in a bid to protect them.
